The hottest Sunday afternoon event in town returns with resident selectors Max Pela and Jorge Serra. This month we welcome Gardy Girault (Rizing Musik / No Passport – Haiti) to Boston for the first time ever! Come join us and let’s show him how we get down in Boston!

Gardy’s passion for music began early in his life, but he actually fell in love with “house music” one evening in a NY club. Influenced by the sounds of his beloved country, Gardy started his music career in 2008, rapidly becoming one of the best “house music” DJs in Haiti – playing in clubs alongside artists like Yves Larock, and Jephte Guillaume at international events like WMC in Miami, France, and New York Fashion Week.

The January 2010 earthquake in Haiti pushed his inspiration to an even higher level – Gardy started to produce. His blend of Haitian beats (rara, raisin, and konpa among others) with soulful house music drew international attention, and brought a new vibe to the music world.

Hosting his popular radio show on Radio One Haiti, and releasing his podcasts on iTunes and SoundCloud, Gardy contributes to the growth of house music in Haiti.

In 2013, Gardy introduced “No Passport” parties, an eclectic movement drawing from the magical melodies and beautiful rhythmic roots of Haiti, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean, combined with modern and retro electronic music. These events aim to promote Haitian music and culture to a diverse audience. At “No Passport” parties, the entertainment is far more an a DJ – professional drummers and back-up singers animate the stage and stimulate audiences with every beat and stroke to the rhythm of his songs.

With a new album on the way, a beautiful journey has just begun.
